The Great ShakeOut Is Tomorrow: What Southern California Families and Workplaces Should Do at 10:15am on Thursday
· 6 min read · David Onori
Tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, at 10:15 a.m., millions of Californians will practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On. Use the drill to prepare your household or team, check emergency contacts and supplies, and talk through how to respond after shaking stops.
Practice the drill together
Choose a safe location, protect your head and neck, and practice the steps with the people around you. Afterward, review where to find emergency supplies and how your group will reconnect.
Where first aid and CPR fit in
Earthquakes can lead to injuries and other emergencies. Knowing how to call for help, use an AED, respond to bleeding, and begin CPR when appropriate can help you support someone while emergency responders are on their way.
Make preparedness practical
Start with one small step: review your plan, restock supplies, or schedule hands-on CPR and first aid training for your household or workplace.
